In this deconstructed interior scene, I wanted to blur the boundaries between abstract and figurative representation. The vase of red roses takes center stage , and aims to remind us to pause and appreciate the beauty of life, and of nature. To “stop and smell the roses”. The dissolving abstract background is a metaphor ; we often imprison ourselves with artificial conventions and mental barriers. It is important to come back to what is essential, our soul, our essence, our connection to the natural world around us, the “Arcadia” of the landscape and of our imagination.
