Karkinos in Urchin takes inspiration from the mud crab Wembley Ware china plates.
I fell head over heels for the kitschy charm of Wembley Ware’s mud crab plates. The absurdity and beauty of a ceramic crab perched on a scallop shell was the weird but wonderful thing I never knew I needed. This obsession led me to create my own interpretation using my sustainable Cardcrete medium, which I make from scratch using 100% recycled cardboard and paper.
